The Bjorn Supremacy: Thomas Eliminates Tiger

Other notes from the first day of the Accenture Match Play
- There were four lethal, look-out-for-this-guy performances today: Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson, Nick Watney and Geoff Ogilvy. Ogilvy’s resolve makes him impossible to pick against in this tournament.
- Stewart Cink overcame a two-stroke deficit with two holes remaining to remove defending champion Ian Poulter. Cink’s brilliant approach on the nineteenth hole might have been the shot of the day.
- Jim Furyk and Padraig Harrington simply don’t have their games currently.
- Dustin Johnson, my pick to win the whole thing, looked in control until the back nine. Unfortunately Golf Channel had no interest in his round or performance today.
- Lee Westwood will need to be better with the putter from inside ten feet if he wants to advance beyond Watney.
Tomorrow’s matches:
Westwood v. Watney, Choi v. Moore
Manassero v. Schwartzel, Donald v. E. Molinari
Mickelson v. Fowler, Kuchar v. Van Pelt
McDowell v. Fisher, Cink v. Yang
…etc.
